Shower Bath and the Last Bottle

Since Samuel's discovery of the shower, we've only taken showers.  But now they've morphed into shower-baths.  Get in Mommy's tub, put the stopper down and fill the tub with bubbles(showers make WAY better bubbles, apparently.)

Tonight was another milestone.  We used the last bottle of Johnson & Johnson baby bath we got for gifts when he was born.  At one point, it took up almost an entire shelf in our bathroom closet and tonight, it's gone. 

Thanks to a little boy who wanted more bubbles.  We had just gotten out the last bottle yesterday and talked about how blessed we were.  We even had the nerve to talk about how long each of those big bottles seemed to last. :-)

But man, those bubbles were fun!

Memorial Day 2012

We had a wonderful and lazy Memorial Day-after all, we had to go back to school for 3 more days.  :-(

Early morning watermelon. 

Then some swimming.  We had the water hose in the pool to add some water.  That was Samuel's favorite part of swimming.

He took a swim break and had to bundle up.

We grilled burgers and corn on the cob for lunch. Delicious!

After naptime, we got back in the pool for more water hose fun.

Grillin' and Chillin'

Since Casey got a new grill for his birthday last October, he's been eager to grill and experiment.  He's gotten really good with his pork chop and chicken marinades.  

While he grilled, we played in the backyard.  

 It was pants optional.  :-)

Which gave us a dirty booty! 

Then it became clothing optional.

Samuel always wants his own tongs, so we give him an old pair of mine.  He loves picking things up with his "toms."

Samuel's First Field Day

Samuel got to take part in his first field day ever.  His class ran a race around the track and then did a tug of war. 

We got there a little early to help him get settled in and excited about the days activities. 

He loved showing of all of the toys he played with.

Before they went out, Ms. Ashley gave them their instructions.

First, we watched the P1 class do their race.  They were so stinkin cute!

Then it was our turn!  Do you see Samuel?

No, you didn't. He refused to run. Refused.

Casey said something to him that motivated him to run the last few yards.

They gave him a sticker for just finishing the race.  :-)

Then it was time for the tug of war.

He participated in that.  Well, I may be using participated a little too loosely. He held the rope and didn't throw a fit, so that's close.

Then it was time to go in and get some cold water and popsicles.

Samuel and Casey played a little kickball before we headed home for the day.

Samuel's 1st Shower

Samuel finally got brave enough to take a shower and boy did he love it.  He stayed in for over an hour.  He kept sticking his head out and saying, "Just 4 more showers." and then he'd  get back to it.

The Behavior Chart

I couldn't decide if I wanted to blog about this or not, but since this is a record of my memories and Samuel's childhood, here goes.  

Samuel has had some trouble with aggression at school.  After exhausting all of our ideas for punishments, we talked to his teacher and came up with a daily behavior chart to track his behaviors during the day.  It divided his day into 5 segments and he could earn a smiley face for each of those segments.  If he had 3 of 5 smiley faces and NO hitting or biting, he could put a sticker on his chart at home.  

These were the incident reports we were trying to avoid.

When he got the sticker on his chart, he could draw a prize from his prize bag(as assortment of toys and books with the occasional bigger treat.) This was one of the days he didn't get to draw from the bag. Casey had gone to get a special boat from Toys R Us and he really wanted it.

We ended the school year with all 3 days of smiley faces!  Phew!
