A Cardboard Castle

With the threat of rain most of Thursday, and all day Friday and Saturday, I took Samuel to Hobby Lobby to find him a fun indoor activity. Of all of the crafts in that store, he chose this cardboard castle.  After putting the sucker together(with only a vague picture diagram), Samuel jumped right in and made himself at home.

He started to color it(see the tiny red brick) and quickly decided that was for the birds. He just continued to move his belongings into his castle and made it his very own.

He has been in his castle all weekend. He occasionally moves it to get a better angle on the TV or to have a better sword fighting stance.

$9 well spent.

Zoo Day! We Made it In!!

We headed back to the zoo today.  We got there the minute it opened and walked right in with very few other people.  It was a bit chilly, so that must have made the crowds smaller.  We were fine with it.  :-)

Samuel was super obsessed with the map today.  He loved finding the animal we were looking at on the map.

Usually, we feed the fish about a million times, but today, they didn't have the food out.  Probably trying to keep the fish alive with the 1000s of people who would be feeding them.

The animals were really out this morning.  All of them.  We were super pleased.

You can't pass up the chance to play on a new playground.

We went to see the Jaguar(Thank you, Diego) and while we were watching him cruise his pen, he climbed the tree in there.  Samuel thought that was the COOLEST thing ever.

Then we went on the train.  THE train.  He just could not wait for that train ride.

We played in the kids section for a while.

He loved the animal tracks in the sidewalk.  He really tried hard to figure out which animal they all went with.

We ended our time at the zoo with a few rides on the Merry Go Round.

We did get some pics of the animals today.

Spring Break Day 2-no zoo for us

Samuel and I had big plans to go to the zoo today.  The weather was perfect and he was in a great mood.

Apparently so was everyone else in Arkansas. There was a line down the street and there were no parking places anywhere in sight.  They weren't even letting people in, it was so full.

So, we headed to Meriweather Park to play.  A good consolation prize.

To handle the pain of leaving the park for a nap, we stopped and got Icee's and some candy.

We'll try the zoo tomorrow first thing.

Rainy Day Painting

Monday was kind of a dreary 1st day of Spring Break, so we did some indoor painting.  We got all dressed in Daddy's t-shirt and went to town.

We got Samuel some of his very own paint.

and he picked out a big canvas that I taped.

I let him pick which color for each section.  He was so funny while he painted-very meticulous to not get it into the other sections.

Look at that tongue.  Samuel is just like his Granny, Great Granny, and Mommy. We all tend to stick our tongues out when we are concentrating.  :-)

He told me to paint a couple of sections-he chose the colors for me.

And then we had to wait for it to dry.

The finished product.  He keeps looking at it asking about the blue tape.  I have a feeling we are going to end up painting in those white lines. :-)

1st Spring Cookout

We fired up the grill this weekend.  Hamburgers, corn and pineapple.  Perfection.

 And then some swinging!!

We Built a Fort

While washing Samuel's sheets, I draped his comforter over his bedrails to make a fort.  He loved it.  Shame on me for not doing this more often.

His Sleeping Partners

Jack Michael's 4th BDay Party

After a good nap, we headed to Jack Michael's 4th Birthday Party. He had it at Parkway Place Baptist Church.  About 1/2 way through, we walked over to the Fire Station. Samuel was beside himself he was so excited!

After the fire station, the party was wrapping up and Samuel realized that we had missed Tube Time.  I let him do a couple of super quick slides and that seemed to really satisfy him.
